Crop Designs is a dynamic maze game in which the player creates or modifies each level in his or her own way by taking control of Lucky Chucky. Each level can be played multiple times in several different ways, but Lucky Chucky's primary goal is to gather all of the feed pellets. As he pursues this goal he creates a maze behind him by leaving flattened crops in his wake, which are then used by the farmers to track him down and send him back to the chicken coop.
Lucky Chucky's best reprieve from the farmers is to call aliens to come and take them away on their space ships. But Lucky Chucky must be careful when calling the aliens for they will turn on him when the opportunity presents itself. When that fails he can take the offensive against his pursuers by throwing exploding gren-eggs at them. Farmers and aliens alike will leave the fields if they are caught in an egg explosion. The farmers eventually come back, but the aliens never return and instead find another planet to visit in which its inhabitants do not throw eggs at them.
As a last defense Lucky Chucky can create a maze to protect himself, which may sometimes buy a little time away from his pursuers. But he must be careful when creating haphazard mazes for they may cause consequences in the form of penalties if he strays from the target crop design of each level.
The target design is Lucky Chucky's secondary goal and it scores points when fully completed and causes penalties when left uncompleted. Only through accumulated points can he earn more lives, so his immediate safety must be balanced against scoring design points to gain lives.
There are more than crops in the fields and Lucky Chucky will come across them sooner or later. Stone fences and one-way gates sometime divide the fields and Lucky Chucky can find himself trapped if he is not careful. Dust devils and crop fans will occasional appear in the fields to add a twist to collecting the pellets by whisking them around in the air. 0
